Born in Rumford, ME on December 6, 1945 he was the youngest child of Leo and Theresa (Clifford) Duguay. Richard was a graduate of Stephens High School. On August 1, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart Jeanne Drouin.
After graduating from high school, he began his career Oxford Paper Company. Richard became the NE Finishing supervisor in the early 80’s and was in the mill until 1998. He later worked at Thurston’s Dowel mill for a brief time. In the early 2000’s he worked as a bus driver/custodian for RSU 10. He enjoyed and loved the interactions with the children on his bus routes, and shared many stories about his adventures.
Richard enjoyed playing poker, cribbage, and the occasional trip to the casino. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spent a lot of time in and around the Parmacheenee area. He spent many Novembers at hunting camp with his brother Ronald and brother-in-law Aime Fournier. He really liked going on moose hunts and was able to go on several. Richard enjoyed fly fishing and introduced the sport to his sons-in-law. He also enjoyed 4-wheeling and gold panning. The one thing he enjoyed the most, was just being with his family.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne of 59 years, daughters Carrie and husband Jack Arsenault of Mexico ME, Kim and husband Michael Papsadora of Rumford ME, Chris and husband Matt Myatt of Gray ME. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Rosie Noyes and husband Josh, Eric Bordeau and wife Karen, Danny Bordeau and wife Kayleigh, Samantha Gallant and husband Brady, Matthew Papsadora and wife Tracie, Nathan Papsadora, Kristin Arsenault and significant other Callahan Prendergast, and Connor Myatt. He also shared a special love with his ten great-grandchildren: Benjamin Bordeau, Blake and Bradley Bordeau, Kaden and Cameron Papsadora, Emma, Macie, and Claire Gallant, Carleigh Smith, and Amora Gatchell. He is also survived by his brother Ronald and wife Isabel. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Mary Lou Fournier and Beverly Mann. Richard is also survived by a very large circle of extended family and so many special lifelong friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring along with interment at St. John Cemetery.
