Marion Doris Gallant

1928 - 2022

Rumford - Marion D. Gallant, age 94, lifelong resident of Rumford, died Thursday evening December 1st at her home on Knox St. with family at her side. She was born in Rumford on May 22, 1928, a daughter of the late George M. and Mary Ida (Arsenault) Gallant and was educated in Rumford schools. On November 11, 1950, she married Maurice C. Gallant Sr. They were married in 1950 and settled in the same home that she passed away in, 60 years later. Upon starting a family, Marion worked as a homemaker all those years, as she and her husband raised their children and she made the house a loving and well-kept home.

As a devout and faithful Catholic, she was a lifelong member of St. Athanasius-St. John Church. She enjoyed baking and the special times with her family and grandchildren, especially holidays.

Marion was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her son Maurice (Gail), her daughter Marion, her daughter Maureen "Trinket" Fergola (Dave), and her son Mark (Patrice); eight grandchildren, Aaron, Craig and Brady Fergola, Mark Gallant, Mandy Brelsford and John Gallant, Phoebe Butlin, and Megan Murphy; and seven great-grandchildren, two sisters Rita Perry and Ida Luther and several nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her husband Maurice Gallant Sr., a son Robert (Gee) Gallant, an infant son Richard G. Gallant and seven brothers Alfred (Speed), George (Puggy), John (Pete), Edward (Elwee), Clarence (Yap), Joseph (Pea Soup), and Walter (Butsy).

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Sat. Dec. 10th at 10 AM at Parish of the Holy Savior / St. Athanasius-St. John. At her prior request, there are no visiting hours.
