Larry was born in Rumford, ME, the son of Raymond and Irene (Simard) Richard. He grew up in the area, attending the local schools, and would later try his hand at mechanic work in both the Rumford and Lewiston area. While being a full-time mechanic wasn’t in the cards, he made sure everything he did had something to do with vehicles.
He worked various odd jobs in his younger (and not so younger) years, including spending time at Napa, VIP, and Steegos. Together Larry and Marie spent almost two decades running transportation services – owning Courtesy Cab for the majority of the 1990s and early 2000s, and Tracker Transportation. He retired to Carthage with Marie.
His side hobbies included years spent as a regular fan attending Wednesday Night Races at Oxford Plains Speedway, dragging his family to the occasional enduro, yelling at the NASCAR drivers on the television, and recollecting memories of his favorite vehicles, most notably the 1974 Chevy Impala that he babied for a number of years.
Larry is survived by his daughter Tasha Raymond, son-in-law Joseph Raymond, grandson Vaughn, and granddaughter Tracy; son Peter Richard, daughter-in-law Briana, and granddaughter Paisley; Buddy, the orange tabby cat; four brothers, four sisters, and a hoard of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Raymond Richard, mother Irene (Simard) Richard, and younger brother Steven Richard.
Per Larry’s request, there will be no services. His remains will be scattered at Height of Land by his wife of 40 years and loving children. It was one of Larry’s favorite places and is an area that will always be connected to his memory.
