Barbara A. Parrella

Barbara was born on March 9, 1926 in Rumford, the daughter of Chandler Adley and Ethel Cawley, both deceased. She grew up in Rumford and Deer Isle, Canada. She graduated from Stephens High School in 1945 as a member of the National Honor Society. Barbara is best known for her job as the Rumford mill’s telephone operator, a position she held for over 20 years.

In 1947 she married Ted Parrella in St. Athanasius church and they made their home in Rumford. Upon retirement Ted and Barbara moved to Naples and then Sun City Center, Florida. After Ted’s death Barbara returned to her home town. She was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John’s church, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Barbara is survived by her son Anthony John Parrella and his wife Susan of Portland, Maine; her grandchildren Nicholas Parrella of Portland, Maine and Allison Parrella Verdier of Henderson, Nevada, Allison’s husband Alexandre Verdier, and their children, Barbara’s great grandchildren, Julian and Noemie Verdier. Other surviving relatives are: her sister in law Gloria Huber and husband Tom and their children Pat, Chris, and Mary and their families: her favorite niece Judy Collette and husband Victor and their daughter Katie; nephews Gregory and Bradford Adley, Brad’s wife Sue and their children David, Elizabeth, and Jonathan, and Greg’s daughter Celina. Other nephews and nieces: Linda Mozden and husband Stan and their family; Doug Parrella and his wife Kathy; Francis Gotto and his wife Lily and their family; Ted Gotto and his wife Priscilla and their family; Suzanne Waterhouse and her family; Penny Gotto and her family (Penny is the widow of John Gotto, Barbara’s nephew); Pauline Gotto and her family (Pauline is the widow of Bobbie Gotto, Barbara’s nephew); and the family of (now deceased) Ella Waddington her niece. Also, her half brothers and sisters and their families: Elaine Trufant, Tom Adley and Eleanor Adley.

She is predeceased by her husband Ted and their son John, and her brothers Garfield and Stanwood Adley, her sister Gloria McLaughlin and her sister in law Lorraine Adley, and her half brother James Adley.
