Willie Ray Wallace died October 1, 2012, at the age of 69 in his home in Alpharetta, GA, surrounded by his loving family. Never complaining, he demonstrated his good spirits, rich faith, and deep love for his family to the end of his hours. His life was well-lived, and he was deeply loved and admired by everyone he knew. Ray was born April 13, 1943, to Willie Ray and Roberta Wallace in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He attended Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma State University and Drury University, and completed his CPA certification. Ray found the love of his life and married her in Atlanta on June 8, 1973. Ray and Margaret settled in the Oklahoma City region for 18 years, returning to Atlanta in 1989. Ray was an energetic entrepreneur. His intelligent and hard-working career culminated with the founding of WALLACE: The Training Tax Credit Company in 1997, an INC 500 company, which sold to ADP in October 2011. Ray loved life, and especially enjoyed social pursuits like playing golf and traveling with his family and friends. His recent epic adventures include a family boat trip in Venice, an African safari with friends, and several European voyages. Ray’s generous spirit and love for his friends created a close-knit network of relationships around him, a tribute to his kindness and loyalty. He leaves a rich legacy to his large and proud family: wife Margaret Wallace, daughter Christa Short (husband Bernard) of Guthrie, OK, son Kevan Wallace (wife Rebekah) of Canton, GA, daughter Megan Jenkins (husband David) of Vancouver, BC; 16 grandchildren: Dr. Lauren Short-Veith (husband Billy), Jordan (wife Melissa), Kyle, Megan, Aaron, Tyler, Jenna, Margaret Anne, and Claire Short, Olivia, Patrick, Norah, and William Wallace, and Cora, Hannah, and Autumn Jenkins; two brothers: Arthur (Skip) Wallace and Ron Wallace, and many more. His life and His Savior will be celebrated at Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4655 Webb Bridge Road, Alpharetta, GA on Saturday, Oct. 6th at 12 noon.
