Vicente Charles Marshall was born on March 5, 1956, in Panama City, Panamá, to the union of Percival and Dolores Marshall, who preceded him in death. He was the third of five children. Vicente transitioned from this life into eternal rest on February 3, 2024, at Tobaga Island, Panamá.
Vicente accepted Christ at an early age at Iglesia Católica de Pueblo Nuevo in Panamá. He shared fond memories of cleaning the church every week with his tia Margarita.
Vicente attended Francisco Arias Paredes from 1st grade until 6th grade, where he graduated grade school. Following that, Vicente attended high school at Alfredo Cantón in San Miguelito for the first three years of high school, then went to Artes y Oficio for the second half of high school until moving to the United States July 10, 1974. Vicente graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL in 1975.
Following high school, Vicente earned a certification in Electronics, then began his career at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in 1977 and also worked part-time at Bahcall Hardware Store.
Vicente was united in holy matrimony to Bertha Smiley in 1979 at Second Baptist Church in Maywood, IL. To this union, they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Cerise.
Vicente enjoyed bicycling, watching boxing matches and listening/dancing to salsa music. He was known to all for his charisma, generosity and his hearty appetite. He absolutely never met a stranger and always lived his life trying to help someone. His favorite pastime was to tell everyone about his beloved country Panamá.
Vicente is preceded in death by his mother Dolores Marshall, father Percival (Percy) Marshall, grandmother Florence Bishop, brothers Javier Marshall, Julio Marshall and special great-aunt “Tia” Margarita (Bishop) Haynes.
Vicente leaves to cherish his memory, one loving daughter, Cerise (Jonathan) Marshall-King, one granddaughter, Morgan Giséle King of Roswell, GA; former wife, Bertha Marshall-Hailey of Crystal Springs, MS; one brother Ricardo (Tony) Marshall of Maywood, IL; one sister Silvia Pamela Pool Layne of Oak Lawn, IL; best friend Alcibiades (Alci) Cerrud of Pembroke Pines, FL; sister-in-law Rosa Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A funeral service for Vicente will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076, followed by a committal service at Green Lawn Cemetery.
