children and grandfather, after a brief illness, passed away at the age of 77.
Peter (Pete) was born on July 9,1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Elizabeth Kennedy Olson
and Elmer Olson. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising from the School of Journalism and Communications in 1966 from the University of Florida, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
He served his country in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. He worked as a top
salesman for ChemTrend and Liquid Control. He eventually started his own business, Precision
Packaging and Distribution in Atlanta, Georgia. He married the love of his life, Shari Maloon
Olson in 1984. They raised a daughter, Kate and two sons, Joshua and Derek.
Pete had a passion for British sports cars and was an avid American History buff. He could
contribute intelligently to any conversation; especially about British cars, airplanes and
motorcycles. He enjoyed music and was eclectic in his musical choices.
Pete was known for his warmth, quick wit, intelligence, calming demeanor and known by
friends as an honest “good guy”.
Pete was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Shari, daughter Kate Yurth
and son-in-law, Michael; stepsons Joshua and Derek Wilt; grandson Dawson Yurth; sister Chris
Capin; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends and trusted, loyal dog, Layla.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, May 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at
Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests
making a contribution to a charity of your choice.
