Peter J. Maloney, owner of Pete’s Carpentry Specialists, passed away June 19, 2014 at the age of 55 after a long struggle with lung cancer. He precedes in death, his parents-William and Mary Jill and in-laws-Jim and Barbara Burgener. He leaves his loving wife of 19 years-Sharon (nee Burgener), sons-Bill (Kelly) and Matthew, daughter-Jennifer Kemper (Patrick), sister-Julie Hermansen (Craig), brothers-Michael, Daniel (Wendy), and Jim (Wanda), 4 grandchilden, 5 nieces, 4 nephews.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, 5/27/59 – Pete resided in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Georgia. He graduated from Kettle Moraine High School in Wales, WI. Pete started his long work career at the age of 15 selling house to house from a fruit and vegetable truck. He began learning his craft as a carpenter and remodeler while working for a local construction company and cabinet maker and ultimately became a fine craftsman. In Illinois he began his own company, Pete’s Carpentry until moving his family to Woodstock, Georgia. Upon moving to GA, he trimmed houses and worked for a matting company until he opened another carpentry/remodeling company with his father in 2000 – Pete’s Carpentry Specialists. Pete and his dad worked together to build a house from scratch for friends. Pete was a respected carpenter and remodeler who excelled at his craft.
Pete had many loves, but his family and friends were always first and foremost. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren –they were the only ones who could get him to go hiking. He loved going down to his parents’ condo in Destin and spending time at the beach. NASCAR had a huge part in his life and he loved going to the races with his wife. Furthermore, he always looked forward to the Annual Maloney Lakehouse Reunions.
Arrangements are being managed by Roswell Funeral Home where visitation will be held Tuesday, 6/24/14 beginning at 5pm with a Vigil Service at 8pm – 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell 30076. Mass will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 11045 Parsons Rd., Johns Creek, 30097 at 10:30 am, 6/25/14.
