Mary Mirenda Martin

Mary was a resident of Forsyth Co. and had lived in Georgia since 1992, moving from her native Wisconsin with her first husband of 22 years. With her two sons, Patrick and Ryan, she started life again with a second husband following later who would pass away from cancer after 5 years of marriage. She married for the third time to the man who would love and care for her to her last day.

Throughout her life, Mary was employed in the insurance and financial services business with several companies, with Peachtree Planning and United Concordia Dental Insurance as her last employers before her medical retirement following her diagnosis of Stage IV Colon Cancer in 2013. Mary would go on to fight cancer for the next 6 ½ years until the effects of chemotherapy without effect on the cancer itself led to her giving up the fight.

Mary was an angel on Earth, sharing her witness and story with many people in person and across the country though the Internet that inspired and strengthened many. Those who knew her in person were overwhelmed with her gentleness and radiant smile that she gave so freely. Her smile captured her husband Dennis, who loved her and cared for her devotedly and faithfully for the 13 years they were together and the 9 years of marriage that they celebrated Dec. 31. She became a grandmother in 2019 when son Ryan and daughter-in-law Jessica adopted son Noah in September.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Grace Mirenda.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Martin, of Cumming, sons Patrick and Ryan O’Krongly (Jessica O’Krongley) and grandchild Noah, her brothers Phil Mirenda (Mary Mirenda), Chuck Mirenda, Tony Mirenda (Suzie Mirenda), her twin brother Michael Mirenda (Sylvia Mirenda), and Bobby Mirenda (Brenda Mirenda).

A memorial service will be held at Creekside Church, 673 Peachtree Pkwy., Cumming, GA 30041 at 2:00 PM.
