Mary Elizabeth “Bib” Hauck died November 21, 2011, at age 83. She passed away after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family, at St. George Village in Roswell, GA, her residence for the past several years. Bib was born May 20, 1928, in Utica, New York, the oldest daughter of James P. and Mary E. Barry. After growing up in Utica, she graduated from Union College of Pharmacy in Albany, New York in 1949 with a Bachelor’s degree in medical technology. While a student there, she met and married Warren E. Hauck, who would graduate as a pharmacist a year later. After she worked as a med tech for a short time, the couple returned to the Utica area where they raised a family of eight children. The family moved to Sandy Springs, GA in 1969 and then to the Crabapple area in 1971. Several years later she began to work as office manager at W. E. Hauck, Inc., a pharmaceutical company that Warren founded. Bib was always active in her church and the Catholic community. She was a former member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where she served on the Care and Share Committee, participated in a small faith group, and served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She was currently a member of St. Peter Chanel parish. As a resident of St. George Village, she joined other residents performing with the “Villagers” choral group and served as a Eucharistic Guardian in the Adoration Ministry. An accomplished baker and a talented artist, she enjoyed sharing her baked goods and artwork with her family and friends. One of Bib’s favorite past activities was acting as a docent at the Archibald Smith Plantation Home, where she helped prepare the home for special events and conducted tours for visitors. The major focus of Bib’s life was always her family. She was pre-deceased by her husband Warren in 2003; her parents; her brothers, Jim Barry and Jack Barry, and her sisters, Pat Carney, Joan Pupa and (infant) Teresa Barry. She is survived by her sister, Lee McGrew of New Hartford, NY, and her sister-in-law, Mel Barry of New Berlin, WI. She is also survived by her eight children and their spouses: Dan and Cathy Hauck of Roswell, Steve and Donna Hauck of Marietta, Barbara and Jim Ayers of Canton, Shelley and Glenn Johnson of Woodstock, Joanne Gillilan of Marietta, Maureen Hauck of Woodstock, Jim and Judy Hauck of Snellville, and Greg and Jennifer Hauck of Santa Rosa, CA. Survivors also include eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation with family and friends will be Friday, November 25, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, 11330 Woodstock Road, Roswell on Saturday, November 26, at 2:00 P.M. The celebrant will be Fr. Peter Rau. For those wishing to honor her memory with a donation, the family suggests her favorite charity, The Covenant House, a program for homeless youth.
