Loyce Jewel Johnson, age 83, of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Monday, July 26, 2021 in his home surrounded by loved ones.
Loyce was born to the late Johnnie Jewell Johnson and the late Emma Lucile Keown Johnson on October 24, 1937 in Marietta, Georgia. He grew up in the Mount Bethel Community.
At the young age of 14, Loyce had met the love of his life: Betty Braswell. The two were childhood sweethearts and held hands while sitting side by side on the bus to and from school. Loyce was well liked amongst his peers, teachers, and Betty’s parents. He had a good work ethic and worked part time as a plumber’s assistant.
After high school, Loyce and Betty were married, as Betty had predicted in the beginning of their lifelong relationship. Soon after, Loyce made the decision to enlist in the United States Navy where he sailed on the USS Tripoli (TCVU-64).
Loyce and Betty were an unstoppable team and their family later grew to include their two children: Ronnie and Robin. He was a devoted husband and a great father. He raised his children alongside his loving wife to be independent, kind individuals.
Loyce was a long time member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church on Johnsons Ferry Road and was a member of the Sandy Springs Masonic Lodge #124 F&AM. Over his life time, Loyce had been promoted continuously to Vice President of Stasco Plumbing where he subsequently retired.
Many joys that Loyce had in life include woodworking, hunting, fishing, working on things around the house alongside his wife Betty, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
