Ladye was a beloved Wife, Mother and Friend. She was known for her kindness, humor, empathy, and love. She was beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. She loved to travel to her beloved Pawley’s Island. In her youth she was quite an athlete participating in many sports, basketball, and tennis among them. She was usually the winner but never bragged about it.
Throughout her life, Ladye was the epitome of southern charm, and grace. She always rose to every occasion. She graduated from Florida State University in just 3 years. She was very invested in the lives of her children. She traveled to every event no matter how far. She couldn’t boil an egg when she married in 1967, but everyone would agree she was the best cook around. She’d never changed a diaper or held a baby when her first child was born, but everyone knows she was a wonderful, loving, and forgiving mother. She made sure every need was met in her family.
She will be deeply missed by her Husband Robert “Bob” King, her daughter, Meridith Matthews, her husband Phillip; her sons John King, his wife Rebecca, and Robert “Bo” King. Her grandchildren Sarah Shedd, Lewis Fleming, Jackson King, and William “Will” King. Her Cousin/Brother Richard Crutchfield and wife Donna and their family Tommy Crutchfield wife Shanna, Robert “Bob” Crutchfield and wife Christine and their children, as well as her many close friends who are like family.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on 5/4/2024 at Roswell Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following, to celebrate Ladye’s life and honor what she meant to her family and friends. Ladye will be laid to rest during a private graveside service on 5/5/2024 at 2:00 pm.
Ladye is rejoicing in heaven and completely healed. She leaves a void in our hearts, but her humor, grace, beauty, and love will leave a lasting legacy.
