Kristin Mar Smith

Kristin Mar Smith passed away, Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the age of 92 in Canton, GA. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11 am in the Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076.

Born in Reykjavik, Iceland on July 10, 1926 to Caesar Mar and Johanna Gudfinnsdottir. Kristin was raised in Reykjavik, Iceland. She lived there until 1945 when she immigrated to the United States and settled in West Orange, NJ with her husband, William J. Smith a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army whom she met while he was stationed in Keflavik, Iceland during WWII. Kristin and William moved to Woodstock, GA in 1992. Kristin and William enjoyed 64 years of marriage before William’s passing on April 6, 2010. Kristin was a homemaker and accomplished seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father and brother, Oskar Mar of Reykjavik, Iceland.

She is survived by her brother, Sigurdur Mar of Reykjavik, Iceland; her son, William J. Smith Jr., married to Georgia M. Smith of San Clemente, CA; her two daughters, Joanne M. Todisco, married to William C. Todisco of Woodstock, GA, and Kristin M. McCreary, married to Kenneth R. McCreary of The Villages, FL; six grandchildren, Joseph and wife Christina Todisco, Erik Todisco, Christopher and wife Meleesa Smith, Bryan and wife Beata McCreary, Erin McCreary, Kaitlyn McCreary; and five great-grandchildren, Addisyn Todisco, Connor, Delaney, Molly, and Shaylee Smith.
