He was born in Marion County, KY, on Jun 29, 1930. After serving in the Marines he graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. During his lifetime he was employed by Ashland Oil, IBM Corporation, and served as minister to various churches in IL, PA and NJ. Rev. Finch was a member and served in the Roswell District of the United Methodist Church of North Georgia for 42 years. He served as a foster parent for Dekalb County, GA for thirteen years. In 1976, he opened his computer business of Lord’s Computer Group Partners, Inc. and remained in business and employed many people for forty years.
He is dearly missed by his wife, Susan Gisclard Brown of Roswell, GA and many extended family. John is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. John Hillary Finch, Sr., of Lunenburg Co, VA, and Stella Gray Orndorff of Pocahontas, WV, his stepson Kevin A. Brown
of Roswell, GA. He is survived by son John H. Finch, III, (Cheryl) of Acworth, GA, son James D. Finch (Shoan) of Alpharetta, GA, daughter, Jean Howell (Charles) of Wilmore, KY, daughter Jody Martin (Randy) of Cumming, GA, and stepson Keith A. Brown of Roswell, GA.
He is survived by siblings, Rev. James O. Finch (Ruth) of Wilmore, KY, Rev. David M. Finch of Wilmington, DE, and Mary F. Finch of
Durham, NC. John is also survived by fifteen grandchildren with whom he spent many fun and happy memories. They are Jay and Jessica Finch; Seth, William, Graham, Curran, and Isabelle (Clay) Howell; Arlie Ann, Mary Kate, and Allyson Martin; Allen, Rachel and Lillian Brown; Alexandria and Dezmond Brown. Great grandchildren and Charlie and Parker Howell.
Service will be held on October 22, 2017 @ 2:00 PM in the main sanctuary of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2850 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022. Interment and commission will be at Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076.
