John graduated from the University of Cincinnati and served as a 1St Lieutenant in the United States Army 3rd Armored Calvary. He was married to his late wife, Linda, for 52 years. In 1977, he moved his family to Roswell where he served as Police Commissioner and worked in commercial food sales for many years for Smucker’s, Keebler and Schwan’s. John was a devoted family man. He loved traveling with his wife, especially on cruises, and enjoyed boating on Lake Lanier. John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend; he will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Linda. He is survived by his son Christopher of Cumming, his daughter, Jennifer Hunter (husband James) of Canton, and four grandchildren-Ruo Lan Greenlee, Mei Yi Greenlee, James “J.T.” Hunter, Jr., and Jessica Hunter.
A memorial gathering to celebrate John’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd, from four o’clock in the afternoon until six in the Reception Center of Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia, 30076. In lieu of customary remembrances the family request donations be made to the Veterans Administration or to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Linda Helen Greenlee (Sibert) passed away January 30, 2021 at the age of 74. Linda was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Sibert of Fort Myers, FL and late sister of Penny Siney of Nampa, ID. She is survived by her older sister Frankie Otte and brother Lee Sibert of Cincinnati, OH and of her and John’s children and grand-children.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Along with cruising and boating with her husband, she had a fondness for feeding hummingbirds and watching the deer in her backyard. Linda had retired from Nix Unger Construction as the office manager.
During their lives they had lived in several places around the world and the US. They had traveled to over 25 different countries in their travels cruising the world. Both John and Linda will be missed by their family, friends and community.
