Mr. Jimmy Bert “J.B.” Queen, age 76, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 at home in Roswell, Georgia. He was born December 26, 1941 in Gaffney, South Carolina to the late James Guy and Eva Dell (Moore) Queen. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University in 1964 where he was a Cadet Colonel of the ROTC Arnold Air Society. He also obtained a Masters Degree from the University of Southern California in 1970. He joined the United States Air Force in 1964 and was a pilot, flying C 124 cargo planes out of Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii with numerous trips into Vietnam; so many that he was classified as a Vietnam Veteran. After 5 years of active duty, he spent 15 years in the Air Force National Guard. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1988. He was employed by Piedmont Airlines in 1969 and had a successful career as a Captain until his retirement in 1990. J. B. enjoyed the game of golf, NASCAR, and was a proud IPTAY member, attending many Clemson University football games throughout the years. He was an active member and an Elder at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Roswell, Georgia. He served as a Board Member and Past President of Willow Springs Homeowners Association, Board Member of Roswell Country Club for many years, was a member of the John’s Creek Vietnam Veterans Association, a member of the Air Force Association and Air Force Sergeant’s Association, and was a Board Member of the Keep Roswell Beautiful Council. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jenkins Queen; daughter, Margaret Elise Gosnell (Sean); granddaughter, Phoenix Olivia Gosnell; sister, Kelly Chapman; brother, John Queen (Faye) and several nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation and receiving of family and friends at Roswell Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 from 5:00-7:00pm. The funeral service will take place at Northminster Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 21st, 2018 at 2:00pm, reception to follow. A graveside service will be held at Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney, South Carolina on Saturday, June 23rd, 2028 at 10:30am with a gathering of family and friends to take place following the service in the on-site chapel.
