Jim was a native Atlantan born at Crawford Long Hospital on September 21, 1949. He was a graduate of North Druid Hills High School and had enlisted into the Air Force Reserves. He worked as an Account Executive at Fulton National Bank, Production Foreman and then Administrative Manager for Homes, International. He completed his career with a self-employed business in home maintenance and repair retiring in 2012.
Jim enjoyed gun collecting, fishing, gardening and home landscaping. Some of his happiest hours were spent fishing in Florida and sharing vegetables from his own garden. Jim had a great sense of humor and loved to share laughter amongst friends, family and strangers.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Jack Bony Cross, and his mother, Elyse Kay Cross.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 36 years, Jone Andrew Cross; daughter, Kim Cross Knox and her husband, Steve; step-daughters, Alicen Ackerly Cowan and her husband, Robert, and Tullie Ackerly Ramirez and her husband, Hector; step son, Alan Ackerly, Jr. and his wife, Thanujeni; and ten grandchildren, Riley Knox, Jolee Knox, Andrew Cowan, Alexis Cowan, Aaron Cowan, Adam Cowan, Vaishnavi Ackerly, William Ackerly, Claudia Ramirez and Gabriela Ramirez.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021 in the Main Sanctuary of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 10250 Haynes Bridge Road, Johns Creek, Georgia 30022. Please join the family for a small reception following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Prince of Peace Lutheran Chuch.
