Ellie Kullmann, 76, gracefully passed away on Friday, March 16 with her family by her side. Ellie had recent successful surgery removing a breast tumor. After the surgery, it became evident that Ellie was concurrently burdened with a rare syndrome, Paraneoplastic Dermatomyositis, which along with unnecessary complications, led to her death.
The beautiful life of Ellie started in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After a few family relocations Ellie graduated from Arlington Heights High School (IL) and then she graduated from the University of Wisconsin (Pi Beta Phi sorority) with a Bachelors Degree in Education.
Ellie married her college sweetheart, Kenneth Kullmann (Sigma Alpha Epsilon), on September 5, 1964. While living in Madison, WI, Ellie and Ken (IBM) had two girls: Jennifer Kullmann Weinstein in 1967 and Kristin Kullmann Golub in 1969. After moving to Northbrook, IL, and then to Columbia, SC, Ellie and Ken made their home in Willow Springs (Roswell, GA). If they weren’t at home in Willow Springs, Ellie and Ken were off traveling the world near and far. Plans for trips with friends and family were always in the works.
Ellie also made time to earn a degree at Georgia State University in Accounting for a career as a CPA. She was the CFO at SleeveCo and spent 10 years on the Board of Directors for Willow Springs Homeowners Association.
Ellie mostly enjoyed being with her beloved family and is survived by: her husband, Ken; her daughter, Jennifer and her husband Jason (Los Angeles, CA);her daughter Kristin and her husband Tom (Alpharetta, GA); and her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Cathy Averill (Palos Park, IL). Ellie was also blessed with five grandchildren: Tripp (San Diego State University), Chandler (Wesleyan School), Penelope (age 3), and baby twin boys Milo and Levi (age 4 months).
A short golf cart ride away from their home is the Country Club of Roswell (members since 1981), where Ellie was a dynamic tennis player, an avid golfer, and an enthusiastic socializer. Many memories were built at CCR, which is why it has been chosen as the site for the Service @ 3:30 PM immediately followed by a reception on Saturday, April 7 (2500 Club Springs Drive, Roswell GA).
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
