Edith Marie Byers Lively was called home by her Savior on June 3, 2024 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Faustine (nèe Hyde) Byers; her beloved husband, Perry Lively; son, Jimmy Lively; as well as brothers, Bobby, Leon and Joe Byers; and her sisters, Velvie Ree Nichols and Avis Richards. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Dempsey and Marjorie Heard; brother, Milton Byers; daughters, Gail Allen and Pat Williams; grandchildren: Kristi Benton, Perri Delgado, Jeremy Lively, Jordan Lively, and Devin Williams, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
Edith will forever be remembered as the matriarch of her large family after marrying Perry Bryant Lively in 1948 and steering them through storms and sunshine for the better part of nine decades. She was an active member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Roswell, Georgia for many years, and served in the Fulton County School System for the majority of her working life where she was beloved by generations of teachers and students. Edith loved swimming, sewing, and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren in her later years, and was a lifelong avid reader and country music listener. Her presence always dominated whatever room she was in, but it is her kindness, her laughter, and her love of her family that will forever define our Edith, our mama, our matriarch, our Granny.
A visitation for Edith will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 12:00 PM at Green Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076.
