Dorothy Helen Cawood

Mrs. Dorothy Helen Cawood, age 97, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020. Dorothy was born on December 16, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter to the late John and Helen Ogaitis.

Dorothy met the love of her life, William Cawood, and they were married in 1942 shortly before William went overseas to fight in WWII. This union was blessed with five loving children, Connie, Susan, Scott, Tim and Tom. Dorothy and Bill loved each other and shared in many adventures and precious moments together.

Dorothy was intelligent, caring and lived life to the fullest. Besides her many talents, she loved going to the beach, at least once, every year. She had the mindset to excel, and knew how to pool resources and apply them to help people.

Dorothy made sure her family and her faith in God were her first priorities. She was a grateful, kind Mom who faithfully prayed for her family and friends in triumph and tragedy. She was a devoted wife, outstanding mother, grandmother and friend. Her beautiful life, legacy and influence will always be remembered in the lives who knew her.

Along with her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Edwin Cawood, her precious grandson, Alexander William Cawood, and her sweet great great grandson, William Debow. She is survived by her five children, Connie Chirco (Joe), of Sugar Land, Texas, Susan Ceravolo (Ron) of Jasper, Georgia, Scott Cawood, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, Tim Cawood (Kristin), of Hampstead, North Carolina, Tom Cawood (Melanie), of Sharpsburg, Georgia, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Anne Ogaitis, of Baltimore, Maryland.
