David Ellsworth Finley

Mr. David ‘Dave’ Ellsworth Finley Jr., age 88 of Roswell, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023. Dave was born on July 2, 1934 in Ashland, Ohio, a son to the late David E. Finley Sr. and Irene Rickabaugh Finley.

Dave was born and raised in Ashland, Ohio with his four siblings. He joined the United States Army at the age of eighteen and diligently served our country for three years. He was a paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. Dave eventually settled in Arizona where he developed his business, David Finley Inc. He met and married the love of his life, Dolores ‘Dee’ Finley in 1981, and the two shared a beautiful life together. Following retirement, they made their way to the Atlanta area where they eventually settled in Roswell. Dave was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church Atlanta where he served as an usher and in several other capacities. In his spare time, Dave loved traveling, reading, and spending time with family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend; Dave will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Along with his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his two brothers, William and George, sister Elaine Shoemaker, half-sister Myrtle Wilson and step-son Matt Schafer.

He is survived by his wife, Dee Finley; two children, Michael Finley, wife Victoria, of Florida, and Mitch Finley of Arizona; stepdaughters, Bonnie Schafer of Tennessee and Tammy Pal, husband Tom, of Washington; three grandchildren, Mark-Elliot Finley, Lauren Finley, and Will Finley; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family would like to thank Melissa Hyatt, Kadan Homecare Agency, and Agape Hospice Care who lovingly took care of Dave and coordinated his smooth transition to his Heavenly home.

A memorial service honoring Mr. Dave Finley will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
