Carolyn Womack, 81, passed away on January 28, 2024. She was born on November 6, 1942, in Eastaboga, Alabama to the late Reverend S.E. and Louise Dulaney. Carolyn was the eldest of seven siblings and played a crucial role in caring for her younger brothers and sisters.
From a young age, Carolyn exhibited a natural inclination for caregiving and servanthood. At 17, she aspired to become a medical missionary, influenced by her father, a rural minister. She graduated from Macon Hospital School of Nursing in 1963 on a full scholarship. During her college years, she met the love of her life, Bill Womack, who she married on March 15, 1964.
Although her plans for missions were temporarily put on hold, she fully embraced the roles of wife and mother. Carolyn pursued her career as a Registered Nurse, specializing in obstetrics. Her dedication to healthcare and helping others extended beyond her profession, and at the age of 48, Carolyn’s passion for missions finally came to life. She embarked on mission trips with her husband Bill to various locations, including Kyrgyzstan, Honduras, Jamaica, Ecuador, Trinidad, and Guatemala. In addition to serving, Carolyn loved to worship, and her voice could be heard echoing down the pews at church.
Carolyn was much more than a devoted healthcare professional. She was a passionate Christian, a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and a cherished GiGi to her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Bill of 59 years (21,867 love filled days); sons, Greg (Angie) Womack and David (Lori) Womack; grandchildren, Stephen, Ashton, Caleb, Jeremy, Daniel, Joshua, Lindsey, and Brittanye, as well as six great-grandchildren. Carolyn is also survived by her siblings Peggy, Donald, and Myra. She is preceded in death by her siblings Gale, Shirley, and Sammy.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to honor her passion for missions by requesting that donations be made to Medical Missions Ministries, https://medicalmissionsministries.org/
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Roswell Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Carolyn's impact on the lives of those around her and her passion to make great the name of Jesus will be remembered with love and gratitude.
