James Randal DeVinney born January 11, 1943 in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone passed away on July 30, 2012 at the age of 69. Preceded in death by his Father Alvin DeVinney, Mother Elsie Frank, sister Marlene DeVinney, daughter Kerry Lynn DeVinney. Survived by his wife Karen (Hana) DeVinney, daughter Sheryl Lynn Moore, grandchildren Sean Moore and Sierra Moore. His fondest childhood memories were of times spent with his grandmother and 9 cousins in Milmay, New Jersey.
At 18 Jim joined the U.S. Army and proudly served in Germany, France and the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge he established residence in the Bay Area where he worked as a dispatcher and driver for Valley Motor Lines. He owned a Mobil gas station on Hesperian Blvd in San Lorenzo, CA for many years. In 1984 he moved to Loomis, CA where he established DeVinney's Auto Appraisal.
Jim spent endless hours enjoying his favorite pastime, bass fishing. He was a member of Western Bass, Won Bass, NewBass and many more. He was one of the original members of Castro Valley Bass Classics.
Jim had experience in many fields and was always willing to help anyone and share his knowledge. He always saw the good in people and no one was ever a stranger.
Jim will be remembered for his never ending jokes, sense of humor and kindness, but mostly for his love of bass fishing. Jim was a joy to be with and will be deeply missed by many.
Visitation will be held at Lambert Funeral Home 400 Douglas Blvd, Roseville, CA Monday August 6 from 4:00-7:00. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 7 at 10:00 am followed by a graveside Military honors presentation and Celebration of Life.
