Jim was born December 1, 1922 to Oda Elmer and Lue Meddie (Norman) Plummer in Loving, Oklahoma. The family moved to Bakersfield, Calif. in 1926. He graduated from E. Bakersfield HS in 1941. Jim served in the US Navy from 1941-1945 in the South Pacific on the USS Maryland.
He began working for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Bakersfield and transferred to Roseville in 1962, retiring with 38 years of service.
He married Nancy Allred in 1951. They had two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Jessen and Cynthia Jane Cooper. Nancy passed away in 1957. He married Peggy Burns in 1960 and adopted her three children Daniel, Shelley, and David. Peggy passed away in 2000. He married Rita Harward in 2002.
Jim was a nature lover who enjoyed camping and hiking. He and Peggy joined Placer Pacers Club (CA Volkssport Assoc.) and walked most of the United States.
Jim was a great, kind, sweet, hard working man. He was all you could ask for as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by wives Nancy and Peggy, son David, grandson David Joel, brothers Adron and Armon and sister Geniva Harville. Survived by his loving wife Rita, son Daniel, daughters Shelley, Jennifer, and Cynthia, sister Bettie Kunder, 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three great great granchildren.
Services will be held at Lambert Funeral Home, 400 Douglas Blvd, Roseville, Calif on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at noon. Burial will be at the Newcastle Cemetery at 1:30.
