Patricia Anne (Tracy) Barber, “Tricia”, age 72, of Rome, Georgia passed away at Atrium Floyd Medical Center on Friday, November 29, 2024, with family by her side. She was born in Long Beach, California on August 9, 1952. She was the fourth of six daughters from the late Michael and Eva (Barnett) Tracy. Patricia and her family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1968 where Patricia met and married her high school sweetheart, Michael Gene Barber. Patricia and Michael were married July 28,1972 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Minnetonka (Deephaven), Minnesota. Patricia and Michael were married for 52 years. Patricia and Michael had four children, twins Jessica and Peter, Andrea, and James. Patricia and Michael lived in several states throughout their marriage including Minnesota, Alabama, California, Kentucky, and Georgia.
Patricia received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1993 from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. Patricia began as a critical care nurse at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She then served as a liaison for Humana in case management in Louisville. Then, after the family moved to Rome, Georgia, Patricia served at Floyd Hospital as a critical care charge nurse on 5 West and in ICU, as well as a case manager on 4 Central. In all these places she formed wonderful bonds and friendships for which she held in high regard. Patricia leaves behind a professional legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her colleagues and her patients and their families she cared for. Patricia solemnly pledged before God and in the presence of His people to live her life with moral integrity and to practice the profession faithfully. Patricia’s calling was evident in her devotion, loyalty and deep holistic belief in how she cared for her patients. Her dedication to aiding the doctors and committing to the care and welfare of her patients was a pillar throughout her life.
Those left to celebrate her life are her husband, Michael Gene Barber. Children; Jessica (Michael) Brown of Shelbyville, Kentucky, Peter (Kathryn) Barber of Lexington, Kentucky, Andrea “Andi” (Ryan Loudermilk) Barber of Mount Vernon, Kentucky, and James Barber of Rome, Georgia: Grandchildren; Alyssa and Makayla Brown, Levi Barber, Jacob, Emma, Ava and Abigail Watson, Grace, William, Lucille, and Samuel Barber, Zachary, Jacob Ancil, and Jenna Loudermilk. Sisters; Erin (Rick) Mardian of Roanoke, Virginia, Kelly (Michael) Pincus of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Kerry Tracy of Dallas, Georgia. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues, and neighbors.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Eva Tracy, sister Kathleen Tracy, and sister Mary Shannon Tracy Webber.
Patricia grew up in the Catholic Church receiving the sacraments of baptism, holy communion, confirmation, and matrimony. Her confirmation saint was St. Mary Magdalene whom she had a great love for along with a devotion to the Blessed Mother. She received the sacraments before making her final journey Home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Patricia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, colleague and friend. She will be missed dearly by all.
A visitation will be held Monday, December 2, 2024, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Daniel’s Funeral Home & Crematory in Rome, GA and Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 PM. Graveside Rite of Committal will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Rome, GA. All are welcome to attend.
