Mary Jane was born on August 11, 1930, to Grace Murray Foley and William Denis Foley in Boston, Massachusetts. After Mary Jane graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Boston, she went on to study Education at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts.
After graduating with a BA degree in Education, she pursued and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from The University of Massachusetts. Mary Jane felt education was a cornerstone of a successful life.
Mary Jane met her husband, Richard, in Boston and married in November of 1957. She went on to work alongside her husband, Dick, at Protective Sales for many years. The couple proceeded to have five wonderful and successful children.
Mary Jane and her husband were members of the Coosa Country Club where they enjoyed fellowship and activities with family and friends. Traveling with friends brought Mary Jane great joy. She was very involved with Rome’s “Friends of the Library” where she volunteered and supported various programs.
Mary Jane was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome, GA. She was a Communicant of Saint Mary’s for almost 20 years. Her deep faith and commitment to the Catholic Faith and her church undoubtedly spread through her family and community.
Mary Jane is proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Lloyd Moody, of 45 years. They are now reunited in love in Heaven.
Mary Jane is survived by her loving sister, Nancy LaDue of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts and her five deeply loved children. Ann Walden (Roy Benjamin “Trip”) of Macon, Georgia, Richard Moody (Marlene) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jane Ferguson (James) of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, Robert Moody (Betsy) of Roswell, Georgia, Carol Keough (Thomas) of Atlanta, Georgia.
Mary Jane loved and adored her grandchildren with all her heart. Katie Walden, Ben Walden (Jamie), Hedges Ferguson (Natalie), Mary Claire Wood (Brandon), Allison Ferrell (Aaron), Mitchell Moody (Hannah), Mary Kate Moody, Samuel Moody, Madelyn Moody. She also loved and enjoyed her 5 great grand children.
Mary Jane’s legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity. She will be sorely missed.
The family will have a private graveside service at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
