David Ullrich Sr., of Grayslake, formerly of Deerfield, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, at the age of 76. He was born June 14, 1942 to Mary, nee Willey and Harold Ullrich. David was married to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sandra Ullrich, nee Porto, for 55 loving years. Together they raised four children, David Ullrich Jr., Joseph (Rebecca) Ullrich, Michael (Marsha) Ullrich, and Joy (William) Borkowski. He was the proudest papa of his six grandchildren, Brittany, Madeline, Angela, Nicholas, Avery, and Emily. David will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Bill Ullrich and sisters, Mary Ullrich and Martha (Len) Rendak. He was also a thoughtful brother-in-law to Lucille (Eugene) Floss, Cecelia (John) Sanders, Philip (Judy) Porto, Regina (Wayne) Jarecki, and Dennis (Jeanne) Porto, an affectionate uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a kind friend to countless individuals. He touched the lives of so many people with his gentle spirit and endearing personality.
David was a typesetter by trade and went on to own his own business in the field for which he was very proud. What made him most proud however, was watching his children grow up in front of him. That pride only grew with the arrival of his grandchildren whose lives he devotedly immersed himself into. He was a constant figure at sporting events, performances, celebrations, and milestones in their lives. His influence on his loved ones will continue to impact their lives and he will forever be affectionately remembered as the proudest husband, father and grandfather there ever was.
