I was born to two wonderful parents, Clarence and Gladys Taylor. Mom and dad worked hard and raised myself along with my three brothers, Kevin, David, and Danny. Within this bunch of unruly boys there was a beautiful baby sister, Pam. We lived a life like everybody else. Dad working hard at various jobs through the years and Mom trying to manage our sister and unruly boys, those pop knots on the head with her high heel was a reminder. Mom and Dad did their best and throughout this time we were also blessed with our other Mom, Terry and another sweet sister was added to our Mix, Kathy. No matter where we went through out our life, Rogers was our home.
Throughout my life I have had the opportunity to work various careers. I spent a lot of time at Superior, as well as an escort for oversize loads. I also worked as a city employee, in the oil fields of Louisiana and Texas, as well as a bouncer at a strip club, owned by the mafia. Sidenote, don’t ever steal from the mafia. We were never welcomed back to the state of Texas again and I blame my brother David for that. I was an all-around handyman. My longest running gig, was being a caregiver, which I love to do most of the time. I’ve had the opportunity to care for several individuals in my life, and all were unique in their own way. Being a caretaker was one of my hardest and most challenging jobs but I don’t regret any of it.
As for my home life like any other person, I found love, lost love, found love again, lost love again, and Found love one last time. I had the opportunity to raise, care for, and be a dad in my early years to four beautiful children; Steph, Jeni, Jason, and Jeremy. I was able to watch them grow and become the adults they are today. Also with that being said through these unique individuals, and another special daughter Crystal, I have been given the Beauty of grandchildren; Bree, Wesley, Gracie, Brayden, Corbin, Kira, Faith, Lily, Holli, Kinli, and SJ. (one of my most favorite pastimes) I have also had the opportunity in my later years to again co-parent with Trina more family; Josh, Hannah, Chloe, Noah, Walter, Jordan, Becca, John, Henri, Michael, Lulu, Brittany, Jeffrey and let’s not forget Mary. I also gained even more grandchildren: Karrigan, Logan, Primrose, Amanda, added to our unique mix. As far as other family titles that I have held, I enjoyed being an Uncle to all of my nieces and nephews through the years, and even a great uncle. I have had the opportunity to make some of the worlds best friends and travel buddies. I have also met people and make new acquaintances from around the world.
I have four passions in my life. The first, which I know all of you will miss, is cooking! My ribs and beans, Papa’s ribs and beans can never be duplicated. Papa’s food can never be replaced. There’s also my passion for music. I have had the opportunity to attend concerts and hear people that I have always wanted to. I do believe you’ll hear a little bit of that music today. Passion number three was being THE MAN himself, Santa. And if I don’t say so myself, I was a pretty damn good Santa. My 4th and last passion was travel. I loved to go places, experience new things, taste new foods, and spend quality time with my travel buddies; Chris, Linda, Sharon, and of course Greg. Guys, the next beer is on me!
I will truly miss each and everyone of you. I will miss visiting with you, seeing you, and spending time with you. I will miss cooking for you, traveling with you, and just drinking a beer with you. Just know I am back with my both my mom’s, my dad, Pam, and Kevin, as well as a long list of aunts and uncles and grandparents and cousins. But I will be honest, the thing I look forward to most is being back with David and we’re gonna give Heaven a hell of a time!
If I could say one thing to all of you, it’s this: live life to the fullest, be kind, and realize, “WE GOT THIS!”
