Sherry Annise Seehusen was called home on May 28, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on July 21, 1950, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Sherry brought laughter and joy to each person she encountered. She spent her youth in Corpus Christi, Texas, graduating from Mary Carroll High School in 1968. She is welcomed home by her mother, Iuta (Tony) Kreuser and her father, Lonny Irvin. Sherry began her career as a receptionist in a doctor's office in Corpus Christi in 1969 and often spoke fondly of her years near the beach. That same year, she married Terry Haren, and together they had two children, Mark and Ty. In 1979, the family moved to Grundy Center, Iowa, where Sherry started a successful career in the insurance industry. Her Southern accent and friendly charm made her a beloved figure at work, with some customers calling just to hear her voice. In the late 1990s, Sherry met Roger, whose kindness, thoughtfulness, and humor captivated her. They enjoyed over thirty years together and married in 2008. Over the years, they made homes in Wellsburg, Iowa; Corpus Christi, Texas; and eventually Bella Vista, Arkansas, where Sherry enjoyed her retirement surrounded by family and her cherished dogs, Buster, Cricket, and Libby. Sherry had an eye for beauty. She loved shopping for antiques; she saw new life in older pieces and she always found the perfect place for items she refurbished. Her home was full of repurposed materials, paint-by-numbers, and renderings of her own. Her grandchildren were lucky to have her contributions to their coloring books; she never left any white space and she never went outside the lines. She once even turned an oil spill in the driveway into a piece of art. Sherry was a historian, with her closet shelves stuffed with old shoe boxes full of family photos. She believed it quite possible she held the last photos of certain family members and was determined to preserve their memories. Sherry generously shared knowledge with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her sage wisdom will be deeply missed. Sherry had a passion for travel, but no place quite measured up to the beach, especially with family. She felt it was the perfect place for a thoughtful conversation, a long walk, or a crossword puzzle. She loved Gulf Shores, the Outer Banks, and Corpus Christi, always in a pair of flip-flops and hot pink nail polish.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Roger Seehusen; her children, Mark Haren (Susan) and Ty Haren (Michelle); and her grandchildren, Sidney, Trevor, and Jack Haren, and Harper and Colton Haren. She is also remembered by her siblings, Jane Rowley (Russel), Kathryn James (Dan), Steven Irvin, Daryl Warren, Beverly Maier (Loren), and Rigdon Irvin (Hilka West-Irvin), and numerous nieces and nephews.
