Barbara Ann Finley

Barbara Ann Finley, 90, of Rogers passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023. She was born February 24, 1932 in Marshalltown, Iowa to the late Harold William Heywood and Marion Angeline (Smith) Heywood. She was also preceded by a daughter, Rebecca Susan Finley; 2 sons, Phillip Scott Finley and Stuart Douglas Finley; her half-sister, Betsy Lane (Heywood) Meyer and Stella I Meredith, an aunt with whom she shared a special bond. Barbara earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University and several Administrator’s Certificates in School Administration from the University of Arkansas. She taught English Literature at Rogers High School for over twenty years. Barbara was proud of her contributions to the Delta Delta Delta collegiate sorority, US Power Squadrons and the students to whom she dedicated her professional life. She loved animals, was the consummate cook, and had a life-long passion for corresponding with her family and many friends. Survivors include her oldest son, Rex G. Finley II; and 3 grandchildren, Matthew Garret Finley, Erik Wolfgang Finley, and Kristoff Gearhart Finley. Barbara will be laid to rest in a family burial plot in Ames, Iowa, at a future point in time. Arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
