He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of sixty- five years, Irene Young.
He is survived by his son Duane Young (Kerry), daughter Dianne Ryden (George), 5 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Tom enlisted in the US Army right after graduating High School in 1947 and served as a radio mechanic, completing many courses of training and also training others. He was honorably discharged in June of 1954 and began working as a radio operator for the oil companies in the gulf.
In 1959 he accepted a position at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station where he worked in various positions in communication including radio, teletype, and into the computer age. Over the course of his decades at the space center and Patrick air force base he was able to continue his education and retired as an electrical engineer.
Tom's true passion, aside from his family, was studying and teaching the Bible. He served as a deacon at King Street Baptist Church and director of Sunday School for many decades. He continued to serve the Lord at First Baptist of Cocoa in various positions including treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
Tom was a walking example of God's grace, mercy, and patience. He was a man of dignity and honor and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
A memorial service in his honor will be held on Sept the 16th at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial. A time for fellowship will begin at 11:30 am with a service to follow at 12 pm
