He was born on May 26, 1942 in Sullivan, Illinois and moved to Melbourne Beach, Florida with his wife in 1966. Terry's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and his countless contributions to his community.
Terry's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jane Cooper, and daughters: Wende Fairchild and her husband Wayne Colbath, as well as Amy Willemark and her husband Rob Willemarck. He was a cherished grandfather to Kyle Keesee and his wife Michelle Keesee, Kailey Fairchild, Alex Willemarck and his wife Mariah Cunningham, and Aiden Willemarck. Terry's legacy also lives on through his great-grandchildren: Huntley, Hayden, and Lyla.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Dorothy Cooper, and his brother, Randy Cooper.
Terry's educational journey was highlighted by his achievements, including the completion of his Bachelor’s degree from Millikin University and his Master's Degree from Illinois State University. He embarked on a long and fulfilling career with the Brevard County School System, where he made a lasting impact as a dedicated and accomplished administrator.
He was a man of diverse interests and talents. A dedicated gardener, Terry found solace in tending to his cherished plumeria collection and native Florida plants. His curiosity about history, love for raising butterflies, and admiration for NASA showcased his multifaceted personality. He also had a knack for woodworking and was known to enjoy evenings of playing cards with his family. He was an avid collector of stamps, coins, and antiques, and had a special place in his heart for cowboy movies, golf, and the Chicago Cubs.
Terry's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and learning.
A funeral service to celebrate Terry's life will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial Gardens. The service will be a reflection of the vibrant life Terry led and the profound impact he made on those around him.
