She was born on June 29, 1936, and raised in Brooklyn, New York to the late Carl and Edna Birkenas. She and her husband moved their family to Long Island where they raised their three children. Upon retirement she and Edward moved to Florida.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Patrick Flynn (Patricia), Timothy Flynn, and Lisa Teti (Anthony). She was a beloved grandma to eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Marilyn is survived by her sisters Joan (John, dec.) and Jean (Dennis, dec.), her sister-in-law Maureen (Michael, dec.) and is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Sylvia and Robert. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was an avid game player throughout her life. She also enjoyed many crafts including crocheting, reading and playing games on her Kindle.
A visitation for Marilyn will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1 Rockledge, Florida.
A committal service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1 Mims, FL 32754.
