Jim Mahoney

He graduated from High School in Wellsley, MA. Before finishing High School, he joined the National Guard. He enlisted in the Marine Corp. when he was 18 and proudly served his country during the Korean War era. Shortly after returning, he made Florida his home and never went back to the cold weather.

Jim worked for Bell South/AT&T for almost 40 years. Twenty years in the Miami/Hollywood area and 20 years in Melbourne. He was part of the Knights of Columbus and the Jaycees at Nativity Catholic Church where his girls went to school and was very involved in running their yearly carnival.

After retiring from AT&T, Jim enjoyed volunteer work. He volunteered at the local hospital, the cancer center, for VITAS Hospice in their Veterans program, he ushered for over 50 years in every church he belonged, most recently Calvary Chapel Melbourne until Covid.

The Marines have always been a huge part of his life and his most recent involvement has been the Space Coast Honor Flight. He has been recruiting every Veteran he can to take the flight. When he was in ICU, in December, he managed to give out four applications to Veterans working on staff.

Jim was a man of great faith who loved God, family and his country. He made friends everywhere he went and will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of almost 18 years, his two daughters, Bonnie Tighe, Susan (Doug) Sinclair, his three grandchildren, Josh, Katie and Nick, and his newest pride and joy, his great granddaughter, Kacey Shea who he met prior to his passing.

Linda’s children Jim MacDonald (Anni), Laurie Humphries (Tommy) and granddaughter Jessica Vest loved their step-dad dearly.

A gathering of family and friends for Jim will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at The Life Event Center at Florida Memorial followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
