Jack O. McAlister Sr.

Jack McAlister - Satellite Beach - Jack O. McAlister, Sr. 83, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 12, 2010. Son of the late Lexie and Annie L. McAlister, he was born on January 26, 1927 in Birmingham, AL. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Jo and 4 biological children, Jack O., Jr. (Sharon), Libby Walton (Joe), Bobby K. (Anne), Patricia Harris. In 1966 when he wed Betty, he took on a second family-Cindy Heyne (Bob), Berri Acker (Dave), and Wanda Kelly, who loved and honored him as their own father. He is also survived by his sister, June Lewandowski (Clay), 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren (from both families) and many cousins. He is a graduate of Auburn University, was employed by Hayes International, Birmingham. While in California, TDY, he was laid off and a friend from Satellite Beach encouraged him to come to work in the Space Industry. He was employed by GE, Pan Am and PRC until his retirement, at which time he started a second career at McAlister Home Services. He worked tirelessly for many years until recently especially for Mark Realty in their rental properties. He was extremely proud of his Snoopy Award given for Distinguished Leadership Abilities through the Space Center. He loved sports, golf, and the Orlando Magic and was a die hard "Auburn Tiger". He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and especially, great-grandfather. Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 15 at Florida Memorial Funeral Home and services will be Friday, April 16th at 1 p.m. at Florida Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Building Fund at South Patrick Baptist Church, 343 S. Patrick Dr. Satellite Beach.
