He will be lovingly remembered by Roslyn, his wife of 69 years; his children, Stacey, Jonathan, and Jennifer; and his beloved grandchildren, Alanna, Jessica, Skyler, Sydney, and Justin. He is also a great grandfather to Mia, Savannah, and Mason; and a dear brother to Bernie, Rhoda, and his late sisters Natalie and Ellie.
Born on February 18, 1930, Herb was raised in the Bronx, New York. At 19, he joined the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman and served in Korea with the 1st Marine Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Commendation Ribbon with Combat V for his acts of heroism. After attending Hofstra University under the G.I. Bill, Herb embarked on a long career in engineering – first with Columbia University at Dobbs Ferry, and then at Orlando Naval Base and Patrick Airforce Base until his retirement.
Herb was a jazz devotee, ardent camper, racquetball player, scuba diver, and stained-glass artist. The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy, and his sharp wit and humor always had his family and friends laughing. An easygoing, kind, and generous man, Herb will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
