Gordon is predeceased by his sister, Joan Watkins. He is survived by his loving wife, Francoise Parker and his daughter, Corrine Karnbach. Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Danielle and Sophie Karnbach.
Born in Vancouver, Canada, Gordon came to the United States and was a schoolteacher for most of his working career. He achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army serving as a Medical Company Administrative Officer and later becoming the Commanding Officer of the 103rd Medical Service Company, dispensing all the medical supplies for 30,000 troops in the Manila areas of the Philippines between 1945 and 1946.
Gordon was a brilliant man with a quick wit who knew a little something about everything. He enjoyed traveling, reading history books and eating out. He loved cats and going to Perkins as often as possible with his family. He was avid storyteller and would tell captivating stories only to end with “To be continued…”
He loved keeping detailed records of the price of gas and a cup of coffee throughout the years and couldn’t get over paying $5.00 for a cup. As a “child of the depression” – as he called himself- he knew that every penny counted.
Gordon, Donn, Pop, Pappy will be sadly missed by all of us.
