Just had to share one precious memory that always brings me a smile. When Dustin was just a little tyke he was playing outside with his slightly older sister. He ran into the house all excited, his face glowing with pride punctuated by those charming dimples. Then he revealed that he had just learned to do “dusty-saults.” What else would you call it when your coach, your sister “Summer”, was showing how she could do “summersaults!” This funny little story perhaps showed us very early on his eagerness to learn, to share, to be creative with language, to display athleticism, and get the greatest joy out of accomplishments, simple or complex.
(His super mom, my cousin Patrice, told me about this many, many years ago. When I recall the story or merely hear the word “summersault,” I smile and my whole body chuckles.)
And then Dustin went on to accomplish so much, bringing countless moments of pride and sharing and priceless smiles. We will cherish every memory!
Now, Dustin, flash those magic dimples around Heaven, they will always bring about  smiles!

Dearest Family,
As we began the first day of our long trip from MO to CA we looked forward to the joy and festivities coming with attending the wedding of our niece. Then came the message of the passing of dear, dear Dustin.  The atmosphere in the car changed dramatically. There were moments of utter shock, profound sorrow, and cherished memories, lots of hours to reflect. We, like countless others, did not have enough time with  Dustin. But we have indelible and precious memories: a  toddler with glowing dimples and a spirit that promptly invaded our hearts, giving off boundless love, joy, and even a bit of mystery; a young man with admirable athleticism and academic achievements; a young airman serving us all: his family, his friends, his fellow airmen, and, indeed his/our whole country! And what an exemplary dad; what person could deny, after seeing him holding Little Richard or photos of them and TJ, that he epitomized “fatherhood! God blessed us all with the heritage Dustin left  us!
 There’s warmth and endless joy remembering him and all his immeasurable attributes. Along with these, however, comes the deep pain we feel with the loss of him amongst us; but, there’s also comfort knowing that our loss is Heaven’s gain.  What an addition to the celestial realm!!

Oh my dear sweetheart  husband, the father of my boys, the love of my life, words cannot explain the pain I feel inside knowing you are not here with us. You are more than amazing loving and kind. I have learned so much from you.  You always crack the most hilarious jokes at times and don’t even laugh, and that makes it even funnier. I hope your little Richard grows up to be as humble, sweet and kind as you. Oh, I love you my sweet Dustin. I will meet you at heaven’s gates someday.

Dustin and Andy — what a dynamic duo at Calvin Crest.  Living at CC as staff was quite an experience for our 2 favorite boys. Tony B will never recover from how Dustin and Andy decorated their staff cabin.  These 2 definitely left their mark on CC .   Andy started his adventures at the age of two at Family camp, continued his mountain experiences and mosquito bites at Mee Wok aged 4...... with Jodie Yamaguchi OF COURSE !  
Fun and great memories of Dustin and Jodie will be ours eternally.  We will miss the smiles and joyful lives of them both until we meet again in our heavenly home.   We pray that Our all powerful Creator  and Heavenly Father will hold us in His huge hugs and give us peace until that special day arrives.  

Oh Dustin, I can't believe you're gone. I can't believe I'll never get to talk to you again.  We shared our lives for 6 years (we were so young!) and even though we didn't work out as a couple, I always considered you a trusted and loyal friend/confidant.  You continued to check on me every so often over the years and helped me get out of a toxic relationship, convincing me that I deserved better, and you were right. The world is a little bleaker without you in it, and I for one, will be missing your Earthly presence for the rest of my life.  Rest In Peace, Dear Friend, and I hope Sadie and Sampson were there at the Rainbow Bridge to reunite with you! And if you get a chance, say hello to my Mom and Dad.  

We can only imagine the heartache and disappointment you are feeling at the loss of your remarkable Dustin.

You crossed my mind a few days ago! I thought to myself, oh shoot, Dustin and I haven’t checked in on each other in a few months. Then, this came across my timeline. My heart is absolutely broken! Thank you for being such a kind, encouraging spirit. Nothing but love and laughs every time we talked. Your light shined here on Earth and it is shining even brighter in Heaven. Thank you for your friendship. May God protect your kids and provide strength for your family. Love you forever!

Dustin and I were recruiters together in California. I leaned on him often for support and always valued his friendship.  He was a great guy and truly will be missed. 

It was my honor to serve our nation in the Air Force with Dustin. From the moment we first met I liked him and knew I could trust him. I am saddened by the news. Rest In Peace, my fellow wrench-bender. You were a good technician and a terrific man.

Dearest Dustin-

So many memories of babysitting you. In my mind I still see you as that sweet little boy. I’m at a loss for words. Rest In Peace little one. 

Thank you, Dustin, for truly putting meaning into the word "friendship".  It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years since we walked the halls and ran the track at Bear Creek High, but your value in friendship and commitment to keep in touch made those years seem like only yesterday as we updated each other on our life events through messages and phone calls throughout the years. I am going to miss hearing the familiar sound of your voice, your laugh, and seeing your dimples when you smile. I am honored to have known you. Your memory will continue to live on in the minds of so many that you have touched.

When Lindsay and I got sick and the Air Force made us find a temporary guardian for her you took care of my baby girl as if she was your own.  Lindsay and I could never have repaid you for what you did for us. 

Dustin,
Without you, I'm not sure my husband would still be here. For through rest of our lives, I will be eternally grateful for everything you did during some of the darkest times of our lives. My heart hurts that you won't be here to share the better times with us. I love you, brother, and will miss you forever.

Almost all of my childhood memories involve Dustin. Our group of friends was nearly inseparable from grade school through high school. Dustin was hilarious and smart and he was a very talented athlete. Dustin was just one of those guys that you wanted to be around, a genuinely good person. Our time together on the track at Bear Creek are some of my favorite and most cherished memories. Even the most grueling workouts or weight lifting sessions were fun because Dustin would be cracking jokes in between brutal sets of cleans or squats. I will always think of Dustin as a brother. My heart hurts for his family. Sending prayers to his family and loved ones.

Our hearts are breaking over the loss of our Dustin.  I remember the day he was born.  Daddy called to let me know that after four daughters and four granddaughters, we finally had a boy.  He was so excited.  Now they are united again in Heaven.  Nana and I will miss his two-hour calls keeping us up to date with his life's plans.  Rest in peace, dear nephew.  

Oh my brother, my heart aches. I had just always assumed the 3 of us would grow old together - maybe not in the same city or state, but still together, supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. But, that was not meant to be. I am thankful your mind and body are now at peace, but I am sad. So sad. I love you.

While we didn't speak as often as either of us probably wished these last few years, I know I at least cherished every interaction we ever had,  you're gone too soon and I for one am proud to call you my brother.  

Dustin, I still can't believe you are gone. It's so hard to accept. I am extremely grateful we grew up in the service together and to have called you my friend and brother. My family and I love and miss you unbelievably. We thank you for all the unforgettable memories and support you have shown us. May God bless you and keep you.

I am still trying to accept the fact that my neighbor is not here anymore. No one could have asked for anyone as amazing as you and your family. I’m sorry we never started our garden we discussed while your were here on earth, but start one in heaven, I can’t wait to see it!

Dustin you were the most generous and helpful person I have known for a very long time. I'm still trying to accept the fact that you are gone. It has been a few weeks since we last spoke and this doesn't seem real. You're one that I will miss dearly. I don't know what else to say. I love you my friend... 

My deepest condolences go out to Dustin's friends and family. I had the pleasure of working with Dustin for a couple of years and loved that he was so protective of the people that worked for him. He always stood up for and fought for their rights whenever there was an issue or to get them better working conditions. So sorry to hear about his passing. Gone far too young...
