Doris K. Bodecker,age 93 a devoted wife, mother and grandmother died peacefully with family and friends on December 8, 2024 at her home in Orlando, Fl after a courageous hard fought battle with cancer and dementia.
Born in Baltimore, MD to George and Dorothy Baumann on July 28, 1931 where she grew up with her sisters Betty and Jean and her brothers George and Paul. While in high school she became an accomplished band majorette and participated in several local parades.Upon graduation from high school she married Alan Bodecker and began working with a local telephone company. After the birth of Stephen the family moved to Florida where she gave birth to Alan Jr. and Cheryl. Doris managed being both a dedicated mother and worked at Reynold Securities while the the children were in school, then returned fulltime after Cheryl’s graduation as a bookstore manager at Eastern Florida State College & FIT Her last job was with Lockheed Martin in Shipping & Receiving.
Retiring at age 65, then dedicating her time to caring for family members (son Alan and aging in-laws), pugs Susi and Ming and her beloved granddaughters Simone and Sydney. When not caring for family she enjoyed sitting on the back porch with Pepper (pug), attending Red Hatter functions, doing crossword puzzles, bird watching and reading.She also traveled with family to the mountains of North Carolina and Georgia, a dream trip to Paris, France and to Baltimore to spend time with her siblings Betty, Jean and Paul one last time.
There are angels all around us, Angels everywhere, sent to us from heaven above, to comfort, console and share. The mercies of Gods grace and love through an encouraging word, a kind hearted deed, a gentle touch when no ones there, a peaceful presence in the air. There are angels around us, Angels everywhere.
Memorial service will be held at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, Florida on Friday, December 20, at 10:30am followed by Entombment at the cemetery.
