On September 5 at 6:00 our special friend, our loving sister BARBARA WILLIAMS BERNHART departed this life to take Jesus' hand and walk through the gates of Heaven. The family is heartbroken and knows many more will also be heartbroken. Barbara, or Babs as we called her, loved most anyone she met and would gladly do anything for them. Starting her life in Pepperell as a playground recreational leader, she always worked with others to enhance their lives.
After her husband, Luther (Ken), was injured in Vietnam and totally disabled, she started working with others to help make their disabilities more accessible through beginning with the Space Coast Association of the Physically handicapped. Then progressing to help the handicapped by helping develop the American Disabilities Act (ADA) and working with others with handicaps. The family could go on and on with all the good Babs did but you would be reading all night. At the age of 88 she just couldn’t handle all the stresses of this life and God said “Well done my child, Come Home with me.”
Buddy and Molly arrived Saturday and she was able to talk with them for approximately 3 hours. They were so blessed because after that night she no longer responded to anyone except in pain. About an hour prior to her leaving us, Buddy called Ken, her husband, who is in a Rehab facility, and held the phone to her ear as her loving husband spoke words of encouragement and love to her. Molly watched her face and it went from not sure she was ready to leave to total peace. They had been married 65 years and his voice was enough to give her peace. Thank you Lord for this blessing.
Please pray special prayers for Luther, her husband, Terie, her daughter, and for their adopted son, Matt and great grandson, David and the rest of her family.
Buddy and Molly thank each of you for reading this. It is our love for her to sing her praises. Molly and Buddy
