Ann Elizabeth Claiborne (Betty, Liz), 91 years young went to heaven on May 9, 2023, after a short illness while residing at the Blake in Viera. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 1, 1931. The only child to Walter and Anna Safran. Ann graduated from Olney High School and later East Stroudsburg State Teachers College.
She married John C. Weibrecht (deceased) and had two children. John Weibrecht (Barb) and Ginny Gleason (Pat). She was also blessed with five wonderful grandsons who she adored. John Weibrecht (Brandi), Patrick Gleason (Erin), David Weibrecht (Ashley), Sean Gleason (Danielle), and Bob Weibrecht (Tracey). Ann’s blessings continued with the birth of ten Great Grandchildren, Elle, Wesley, Johnny, Avery, Ella, Jayson, Tucker, David, Blake, and Tinley. She loved hearing about what her great grandchildren were doing. She especially enjoyed spending time with them. Ann was also loved by her devoted cousins Bob Graff (Marilyn) and Barbara Oliver (Jon). They filled her final days with so much love.
Ann had an over 40-year career in teaching. She taught in the Centennial School District in Bucks County PA and finished her career in California. She taught Kindergarten and Second Grade. She impacted many lives with her passion for teaching and her love of learning. Little did she know one day a kindergartener she taught would become her cherished daughter-in-law. Ann was active in her community as President of the Southampton Junior women’s club and as a member of the Southampton Lioness Club. Ann could be found on many summer days in her garden. She loved to garden, and it showed with her beautiful roses. Baking was another gift. Any meal she made was delicious and always topped off with a homemade dessert.
She was blessed with a second chapter that was filled with adventure and travel. She married Gaylon Claiborne in Visalia, California and they embarked on traveling the United States as well as around the world living their best life. She loved the painted desert, anywhere there was an ocean, Morocco, Italy, Mexico, Russia and especially Florida. She settled in Ft. Myers for several years until she finally found her way to the east coast and Viera, Florida. This move enabled her to spend time with her Florida family including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was thrilled to make a trip to Pennsylvania for her 90th birthday to celebrate with seven of her great grandchildren and three grandsons. She loved spending time celebrating with family.
Ann Claiborne’s family wishes to thank the kind and caring staff at The Blake at Viera. During her time at the Blake, she made dear friends and became part of a wonderful community.
