Albert Martin Poggioli passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. Al was born on July 21, 1925 in New York City, New York. Al had the calling to serve in the military. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 18 where he fought in the Pacific theater during World War II.
After a two year stint, Al took advantage of the G.I. Bill and earned a Bachelor's degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. After earning his degree, Al re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he spent his career attaining the rank of Major. His military assignments took him to places such as Germany, Greece, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia. He retired in 1971 and was a resident of Cocoa Beach ever since.
Al loved to keep himself in great physical shape. As a result he made many friends at the Patrick Air Force Base gym. Al also made annual treks to Tunica, MS to escape hurricane season and to “invest” at the Horseshoe Casino. He made many friends during his time there and was affectionately known as Alberto.
He was a generous man who enriched the lives of many. Toward the end of his life, Al expressed faith in God and his desire to be in heaven. He lived a long, productive and good life.
