Richard “Dick” H. Griffin, 73, passed away at Generations at Neighbors in Byron, Illinois on Saturday, July 11, 2020. Dick was born to Juanita Jane (nee Bass) and Albert Laverne Griffin on July 2, 1947 in Danville, Illinois. Dick spent many years of his life in Veedersburg, Indiana, graduating from Veedersburg High School in 1965. Dick married Marsha Smith on August 15, 1987 in Florida.
Dick was a friend to everyone, and knew no stranger. His great sense of humor will be missed. Dick enjoyed cheering on his favorite sport teams, including the Atlanta Braves and the Indiana Hoosiers. He enjoyed fishing, and was a man of many trades. Dick also worked under Lou Bachrodt Dealership, as well as Manley’s Belvidere Ford. The family of Dick would like to extend their gratitude to all of those who took on a role as a caretaker for Dick through these challenging times.
Dick is survived by his loving wife Marsha of 32 years; children, Ashlee Griffin, Jeff Smith, and Heather Robertson; grandchildren, Haley (Thomas) Craft, Zachary Robertson, and Olivia Smith; siblings, Ann (Doug) Abbott, Scott (Melissa) Griffin; nieces and nephews, Susie (Chad) Bolser, Jeff (Hillary) Gayler, and many more.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Albert Griffin; sister, Judy Gayler. As Dick’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
