Brian Bowers, 59, Rockford, passed away on October 13, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He ran the race as best he could and there is in store for him the crown of righteousness that the Lord will award him. This life was just a dress rehearsal to the next for the greater life he will have in heaven.
He was born on November 21, 1953 in Rockford to Donald and Irene (Vigland) Bowers.
Often called the class clown, he attended and graduated from West High School in 1970. He went to architectural school for a short time. He was an avid painter for Telamon on Madison Avenue for several years. Every Sunday he loved to listen to the messages on TV, from Jeremy DeWeerdt at Rockford First.
Brian loved doing puzzles, had his own man-cave in the basement. He loved playing pool and ping-pong and welcomed anyone who wanted to play with him. He was also a Bears Fan
He attended a men’s support group, Healing Pathways (Cancer Resource Center here in Rockford).
Brian is survived by Braxton J. Bowers, son of Renee C. Bowers and Brian L. Bowers (married Nov 5, 1984 in Rockford, divorced August 3, 1989 but have never been apart- they were soul mates who went to high school together); step- daughter, Tiffany J. Berry (by a previous marriage of Renee (annulled); loving brother, Donald (Gwen)Bowers; sister Sandy (Gordy) Sunderman of Florida; and nieces, Brook and Heather Sunderman
He was preceded in death by his parents; Donald and Irene; and a brother, Dale Bowers.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike. Brian was always the Boy Scout willing to help or lend a hand to someone.
“We Love You Brian”
