John G. Ostrom

In accordance with his wishes, his body will be cremated. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the New Boston Cemetery, New Boston, IL. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

John was born on March 20, 1954 in Delavan, IL, the son of Gerald and Doris (Tammeus) Ostrom. He married Cynthia Thompson on August 12, 1989 in Milan.

John was a truck driver, having worked at Watts Trucking, and Star Transportation for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family and grandson. He was a friend to all, and enjoyed visiting and talking with everyone.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Ostrom, Rock Island; daughter, Angi (Gary) Ruge, Silvis; grandkids, Mason and Rachel; twin sister, Jackie (Melvin) Schmidgall, Delavan, IL, and sisters, Fannie Reeder, Mortin, IL and Beth (Bernie) Bernahl, Lincoln, IL; brothers, Chuck Ostrom and Bill (Vicky) Ostrom, Hemphill, TX; his “adopted daughter” Lorey Potter, Rock Island, and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janice DeVary.
