Ora (Pickard) Miller, 103, of Daugherty Township passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony, PA. She was born in Beaver Falls in 1909 to Amos and Hannah Pickard and grew up in Daugherty Township. Ora married Irvin Miller, Sr., also of Daugherty Township, in August 1928. They were married for 61 years until her husband’s death in 1990.
Ora was a beautiful person both inside and out. She had a wonderful spirit and disposition, and love blossomed between her and all that knew her. She was a dedicated sister, wife, mother and grandmother, and she leaves a lasting legacy with all of her family and friends. Ora was a founding member of New Sewickley Presbyterian Church and along with her husband sang in the church choir for many years. She had a long and good life to the very end, for which her family is grateful.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Ora was preceded in death by her two sons, Irvin, Jr. in 2012 and Donald in 2003.
She is survived by one brother-in-law, Lysle Fredrick Miller, Beaver Falls; one daughter-in -law, Judith Miller, Georgetown; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in the funeral home with The Reverend Dan Callahan, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church, 101 Big Knob Road, Rochester, PA 15074.
The family would like to especially thank Ora’s niece Elaine Ankney and the staff at Evergreen Nursing Center for the love and care they provided our Grandmother.
