She was born December 6, 1922 in New Brighton, daughter of the late Albert and Lena (Hoey) Rombold. Mary retired from Westinghouse with more than thirty years of service. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed every type of sport at any level. It could be baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis or golf, if it was on T.V., she was watching. Her favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mary was also an excellent baker. She will long be remembered for her delicious pies. She was a member of the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by five brothers: August, Milton, Norman, Fred and Kenneth; and two sisters: Jean Gonsalves and Pauline Baker.
Mary is survived by her brother: Arthur Rombold, Daugherty Township; four sisters and a brother-in-law: Betty Ceranic, Freedom; Ruth Borkovich, Eastvale; Alice and Glen Wallace, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Lena Neal, Beaver; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011 in the funeral home. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
