Bernice Maxine (Wilson) Oaks, age 90, of Wilmington, DE formerly of Altoona, PA, Blairsville, PA and Baden, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017. She is survived by her daughter Cheri (Oaks) Moorhead, two grandsons Glenn Moorhead of Philadelphia, PA and Stephen Moorhead of Bensalem, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was born in Altoona, PA on August 21, 1926. She was preceded by her husband Thomas Levi Oaks Jr., parents Henry Wilson of Blairsville, PA and Nelda (Homan) Wilson Puhr of Baden, PA and a sister Joyce (Wilson) Lint, Baden, PA and son-in-law David Moorhead.
She graduated from Blairsville High School in 1944. She was a retiree from the auditing department of the Sears and Roebuck Co. in Monaca, PA after 20 years of service. Bernice was a member of the Circle of Friends in Baden, PA and longtime member of the Baden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing many types of crafts, including cross-stitching, embroidery, knitting, quilting, crocheting, and painting her husband’s woodcrafts.
Friends will be received Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. with The Reverend James Young, officiating.
