Nancy was born and raised in Potsdam, NY, on March 24, 1932. There she would meet her future husband, Karl Northrup, while he was attending Clarkson University. They married in 1950. She moved to Rochester with her husband, Karl, in 1952, though Nancy never lost her affection for the Adirondacks. Karl and Nancy made their home in Brighton, NY where they raised 3 children.
Nancy was very active in her church, Indian Landing Lutheran Church, where she loved to sing hymns. She was an active member the American Wine Society for over 20 years, and also very involved in the CA Palmer Fife & Drum Corps out of Palmyra, NY.
After 34 years of being a homemaker and mother she began a new venture with her husband as the owners and operators of The Wine Press in Schoen Place in Pittsford, NY, which they would go on to own for 25 years.
Upon his retirement, Karl and Nancy would share a new love of boating, spending many a day out on their boat in Lake Ontario with family and friends.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Margaret Barney, and her siblings: Richard, Virginia, George, Linda, Roy, Donald, and Louis.
She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 72 years, Karl A. Northrup; their children: Mark (Sue) Northrup, Karla (Tom) Faith, and Laurie (Robert) DiPasquale; Grandchildren: Lauren (Brandon) Loveless, Hillary (Adam Szeluga) DiPasquale, Nick (Joanna Santiago) DiPasquale, Adam (Liz) Northrup, Rachel (Aaron) Fritz, Brian (Jessica) Faith, Jordan (Rylie) Faith, and Emily Faith; Great-grandchildren: Bristol, Marlow, Mila, Kane, and Carter; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, June 11th, from 11am-1pm at the Funeral Home of Alvah Halloran & Son, 2125 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624, where a celebration of her life will be held immediately following at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in White Haven Memorial Park.
