Lucille went peacefully to the Lord on December 29, 2022 at the age of 100. A person of great faith, Lucille trusted in the Providence of God.
She attended grammar school at St. Monica Parish and graduated from Nazareth College, which she fondly remembered, and which was a foundation for her endeavors in higher education. With a full academic scholarship from the March of Dimes, she earned an MSW from St. Louis University, where she met the love of her life and future husband, Henry. Together, they participated in many SLU alumni activities.
Lucille, an LCSW, dedicated her career to social work, serving in clinical settings at Strong Memorial and Bellevue Hospitals, and then teaching Social Work at Barry University. She was a pioneer in the field of geriatric social work, opening a private practice that served clientele nationally.
Outgoing and affable, Lucille enjoyed antiques, knitting, skiing, horseback riding, travelling with her husband, and hosting dinner parties for dear friends. She served on the Board for the March of Dimes in Dade County, Florida.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, two sisters and a brother. She is survived by her husband, five children, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and her younger brother.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 6, 2022, from 11am-12pm, followed immediately by a Funeral Mass at 12noon at St. Monica Church, 831 Genesee St., Rochester, NY. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Carmelite Monastery of Rochester in Pittsford, NY or to the March of Dimes of Rochester, NY.
